Gary G. Johnson, Treasurer
The Treasurer serves as the Chief Financial Officer of the conference, under the direction of the Executive Committee. The Treasurer participates with the Conference President and Executive Secretary in the planning and coordination of all conference programs.
The Treasurer provides financial management in the short and long term financial planning, budgeting, operation and oversight of the conference finances. The Treasurer serves as the property manager for conference owned properties, human resources manager, corporate and legal affairs manager, Trust Services and Stewardship Director and reports to and participates in several operating committees. The Treasurer oversees the functions of accounting, auditing, banking & investment, information technology, insurance and risk management, Kahili Mountain Park and moving services and support to local church/school treasurers.
Gary G. Johnson has been the Treasurer of the Hawaii Conference since 2009. He has spent his entire working career in denominational treasury positions after graduating from Andrews University with a degree in Business Administration/Accounting. Prior to joining the Hawaii Conference, he served twelve years in overseas mission service for the church in Singapore, the Philippines and Guam/Micronesia.
Two of Johnson’s favorite Bible texts that give inspiration and focus to his work are: I Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” and Proverbs 3:27 “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.” (NIV)

The Assistant Treasurer carries the important responsibilities of accounting, payroll, government and church reporting, billing, insurance and risk management.
The Administrative Secretary to the Treasurer provides support to the treasury team and handles supply needs. Specific responsibilities include: cashier, arranging moves of employees, and processing insurance claims. Febe Collo has worked for the Hawaii Conference since 1995 and has served as the Administrative Secretary to the Treasurer since 1999.
Auditing of the local church and school financial records annually as well as training and software support for local church and school treasurers is performed by Jim and Linda Simmons and Arline Matsumoto.
Prior to coming to Hawaii Conference in 2008 as auditor, Jim Simmons retired in 2005 and was formally a partner in (owned and operated) a Certified Public Accountants Practice (business) in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Linda was Finance Director for Mobile Meals of Spartanburg, SC.
